Bianca Bos and her Guiding Eyes dog, a black Lab named Jarvis.

Bianca Bos and Jarvis

Bianca Bos, a true Netherlander - moved to Clara, California shortly after her marriage when her husband received a job offer from a telecommunications start-up operation there. If you're wondering how the Dutch would ever have heard of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Bianca explained that she had two friends from her homeland who now live here in the States. They had acquired their four- legged guide companions at GEB, and were super- enthusiastic about the results; that was enough to convince Bianca to apply. This blond, blue-eyed and attractive 28-year- old has been blind since her premature birth, and is self-described as an active, "on-the-go and independent person," who is strong willed and eager to reach for and obtain goals she has set for herself. A University grad who majored in Dutch Law, she is a volunteer for the local Council for the Blind, and an accomplished soccer player, she expressed eagerness to set up a local team in Santa Clara. During her down time, she listens to Dutch radio, watches Dutch shows on a website and enjoys pop music. Speaking of her new male black lab, Jarvis, she said that he is very active; both at work and at play; he expresses his affection to her by putting his head in her lap, to the rapid beat of a thumping tail. She enjoyed her class' camaraderie and their reflections on life and their experiences. She approaches the prospect of her own home life with Jarvis at her side with happiness, a positive attitude and great expectations. I don't think that Bianca really wanted to go home from GEB- she thinks she is in heaven here!
